Police discovered the child’s body buried in a nearby paddy field following intensive searches triggered by community suspicion and family reports. Authorities have initiated a post-mortem examination to confirm the cause of death and the extent of the assault.

Officials from Tripura Police confirmed that the crime scene investigation and forensic analysis are underway. The accused has been produced before a local court, and charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to murder, rape, and concealment of evidence are being framed.

The crime has provoked widespread shock and outrage across Tripura and neighboring states. Human rights groups, child welfare organizations, and social media users have demanded firm action under POCSO and the strongest possible sentencing.

Legal experts point out that crimes involving close family members present immense challenges during investigation and trial—due to emotional trauma, evidence complexity, and social stigma.
