Nagaland Police Personnel Suspended After Dergaon Drunk Driving Accident

In a firm display of disciplinary action, the Nagaland Police has suspended Lance Naik Khrishna Pradhan Sreestha after he was allegedly involved in a drunk-driving accident in Dergaon, Assam, on 13 November.

The incident gained widespread public attention when a video from the accident site went viral on social media. In the footage, the individual—identified as Khrishna Pradhan, a personnel of the Nagaland Police—was seen being questioned moments after the mishap.

According to the official statement issued by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) and the Deputy Commandant of the 6th NAP Battalion, the personnel has been placed under suspension with effect from 14 November. The PRO reiterated that the Nagaland Police maintains zero tolerance toward any form of misconduct or indiscipline within the force.

“Nagaland Police does not and will not tolerate any indiscipline among its personnel,” the statement emphasized.

The suspension order is part of an internal disciplinary process as the authorities continue to assess the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing departmental inquiry.

The case has sparked conversations around road safety and accountability among uniformed personnel, with many appreciating the swift action taken by the Nagaland Police.
